Commonwealth Games heartbreak for Fletcher
Fletcher, a member of Waltham Abbey-based Orange Monkey Pro Team, took part in the National Mountain Bike Championships at Hopton Castle, Shropshire, on Sunday in preparation for competing for England in Glasgow, but crashed out on the second lap of seven of the Elite Men’s race.
That left him with torn shoulder ligaments and a torn joint in his shoulder which will probably require surgery.

“A sad end to a difficult year. Big thanks to all who have supported me and helped me along the way, sponsors, friends, family and team mates.
“Good luck to Paul, Annie, Alice and Beth in the Commonwealth Games next week and all else who competes.
“Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery and back fighting fit in time for the start of the cross season.”
The 2006 Commonwealth champion Liam Killeen will now step in to replace him.
