Young Hucknall scientists up for national award
Six students from Holgate Academy, in Hucknall, have made it through to the UK final of The Big Bang UK Young Scientists and Engineers Competition after wowing judges at the regional heats.
Year ten students Lucy Cooper, Shaiann Calliste, Grace Allsop, and Annalea Bearder impressed the judges with their Olympic Stadium project, which comprised of five circular arenas in the shape of the Olympic rings which was to be built in Japan, each housing different sports facilities – featuring a removable floor. There is also a model to show how they have tried to make the arena earthquake proof.

Hide AdThey will go on to join over 200 other project teams from across the UK in the finals, which take place during The Big Bang UK Young Scientists and Engineers Fair at the Birmingham NEC, March 2017.
The annual Big Bang Competition is designed to reward young people’s achievements.
