Twitchers flock to spot rare visitor
Birdwatching enthusiasts descended on a local beauty spot in the hope of seeing a rare bird not spotted in Nottinghamshire for 30 years.
Twitchers arrived at Bedby Heath, between Market Warsop and New Ollerton, to try and spot the parrot crossbill - which last seen in the county in the early 1980s.
The parrot crossbill is a large, powerful finch and has a deep parrot-like bill and a sharply forked tail.
According to the RSPB there are just 65 breeding pairs throughout the UK.
