Area in top ten for speeding
The figures, released by road safety charity Brake, showed that the NG17 postcode came in at number ten with 1,316 offences last year.
But two other areas scored even higher for the number of fixed penalties handed out, with Nottingham’s NG5 and NG16, Eastwood and Kimberly, scoring second and seventh respectively.

“Each set of traffic lights has 30mph limits, so drivers are speeding up and slowing down a lot - you only have to misjudge it a little.”
Julie Townsend, deputy chief executive of Brake, said: “When drivers use roads without care for others the consequences can be tragic and horrific.

“We are asking all road users to look out for and protect each other, particularly the most vulnerable - that means drivers sticking to 20mph or below in towns and villages, looking carefully at junctions, and being considerate.
“Ultimately, we are all just human beings with an equal right to use the roads, not competing tribes.”
