AN inquest into the deaths of a couple shot dead in revenge for a killing in Bulwell will be held early next year.
John and Joan Stirland were gunned down at their home in the village of Trusthorpe in Lincolnshire in August 2004.

The gangland-style double-execution came after Mrs Stirland's son, Michael O'Brien, killed 22-year-old shopfitter Marvyn Bradshaw outside the former Sporting Chance At The Goose Fair pub on Hucknall Road in Bulwell in August 2003.

Mr Bradshaw's death was a case of mistaken identity because O'Brien was targeting Bestwood crime boss Colin Gunn's nephew, Jamie, who later became ill and died.

Colin Gunn, together with John Russell, of Northcote Way, Bulwell, and Michael McNee, of no fixed address, are serving a total of 90 years for conspiring to murder the Stirlands.

The decision to hold an inquest into the couple's deaths was made after a preliminary hearing at Skegness Magistrates Court.
